As we looked down hundreds of feet into deep gorges, it was interesting to see places in the frozen river where water was running clear and cold. Can spring be around the corner for Alaska? I say yes - that sun is strong and warmer everyday.
I am a third grade Language Arts teacher in a school in The Woodlands, Texas. I was born in Dallas, but had many wonderful years in between at Sharon, PA; Warren, OH; and Akron, OH. One of my sisters lives in Fairbanks, AK, and she is the one who got me "hooked" on the Iditarod. I am setting up a blog to share with my third graders in Texas when I travel to Alaska in March 2007 to observe first hand the start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. I have enjoyed teaching my students all the history and excitement of this race for about five years now. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to see the race start in person and send reports with photos back to my school.
